Dos Palillos Berlin restaurant offers authentic Asian dishes served in the Spanish tapas style. Paris based designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have created a stylish atmosphere at Dos Palillos restaurant in Berlin Mitte where guests find themselves at the centre of a fantastic kitchen.
Dos Palillos’s ‘function-over-form’ design welcomes you right below Casa Camper’s hip hotel by Hackescher Markt. Elbulli’s former chef de cuisine Albert Raurich is the highlight of the venue.
All seats are around a very very long wooden table. Layout of the restaurant, as well as the merger of the kitchen area with the service area, creates a dynamic atmosphere.
All-chrome look of the kitchen distinguishes of the service area. Don’t worry about the cooking a couple of meters from you, doesn’t interrupt at all with your experience.
We have been served 17 small (tapas-style) dishes throughout the evening, all with a perfect balance of texture, taste, presentation and smell. This is shime saba, marinated mackerel.
This is prawns with earl grey tea infusion. Not a big fan of tea of its creative usage in kitchen but its subtle presence in this dish was quite welcome.
This is Oyster with warm sake. All dishes were presented with a fusion element in them. To our delight, none of the fusion elements were too aggressive.
Summer roll filled with crispy chicken skin, shallots, cucumber and ruccola.
we had a chance to try a fair selection of sake during our dinner. Dreamclouds was our preference overall.
Asparagus tempura
Te maki, do it yourself hand-rolled sushi. This is some sort of a party sandwich in Japan, where each guest prepares their sandwich according to their preference.
Cantonese style grilled pork jowl
Steamed dumplings
Char siew bao (steamed chinese bread filled with pork and peanuts) and our dear peek-a-boo waitress. This dish was one my favorite ones the whole night.
