Cupcakes can be very tempting especially by the way they look. This has been a blessing and a curse for us most of the time. They just promise too much and they’re rarely as rich or as tasty as they look. We had the opportunity enjoy good cupcakes only at Sprinkles and counted them as best in the US. That was until we came across Georgetown Cupcake, though.
After their first store in Washington, DC, Georgetown Cupcake has expanded into several other cities. Luckily for us, one of their stores is in New York, right at the heart of Soho.
Soho store follows the same simple, elegant, white-washed identity that they have been using since their first store’s opening in 2008.
Georgetown Cupcake has more than 100 flavors that you can try from. Some of them are almost always available, some of them are on display only on special occasions.
Here comes the tough question. Will you go for a tried tested, delicious flavor or will you adventure into tens of available flavors you can dig into. Who knows, maybe you’ll find the flavor of your life.
Only a simple glass is keeping you from throwing yourself to all these cupcakes and putting on ten kilos at one go.
Day 1: Chocolate Ganache (varlhona chocolate cupcake dipped in callebaut chocolate ganache icing topped with a seasonal fondant decoration) and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake. Chocolate Ganache was our favorite one with chocolate, Chocolate Peanut Butter was the richest of all the ones we have tried but definitely not a bad choice if you like, well, peanut butter.
Day 2: Chocolate Coconut (varlhona chocolate cupcake with a vanilla cream cheese frosting capped with a cloud of shredded coconut), Chocolate2 ( varlhona chocolate cupcake with a whipped callebaut chocolate frosting topped with a seasonal fondant decoration) and Chocolate Ganache. Nobody wanted to share theirs.
Day 3: Duo of Chocolate Ganache, Chocolate2, Lemon Blossom (fresh lemon cupcake with a lemon zest-infused vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with a candied lemon), Salted Caramel (caramel cupcake with a salted caramel-infused buttercream frosting topped with a caramel star drizzle) and Red Velvet (classic red velvet cupcake with vanilla cream cheese frosting and a red fondant heart)
