Over the last year, we had to travel to Brussels quite frequently. For one reason or another, we used to arrive there mostly on Monday evenings. We have found ourselves looking for something delicious, serving later in the evening and doesn’t require a booking. Ellis definitely met all the criteria and gave us a great burger (something we tend to be very picky at) option.
Ellis Gourmet Burger is located in Saint-Catherine square, one of the most central squares in Brussels. Large window bays provide lots of light inside but also are very welcoming.
You can have your burger at a regular table or at the bar overlooking a semi-open kitchen. At the bar, ambiance is pretty lax. Staff is friendly and easy to talk to.
Interesting facts or stories written on the walls emphasizes the casual atmosphere. Also who wouldn’t like to know where actually hamburgers are originated from.
There are more seating on the second floor. Decoration is very similar to the ground floor except large glass frames used to separate spaces.
Availability of a couple large tables is always welcome. Most of the time, these tables are put in a separate sections letting all parties to enjoy their meal without disturbing others.
In addition to their fairly large selection of burgers, Ellis also has a monthly specialty that you can give it a try. As you can tell with ‘Bollywood’, specialties are generally for the adventurous. We have never regretted to choose a specialty, though.
Best way to try a fine selection of Ellis burgers is to go with Trio Mini Burgers. Guaco-Waco Lamb and Funky Chicken have been our favorites.
Meat Lovers has been one of our consistent choice. Who can say no fresh vegetables, pickles and some bacon in their burger?
There is a selection of small sides. As much as we enjoy fries, we generally try to go a little more healthy. Corn on a stick is one our favorites.
